Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Apopka Blue Darters walked away with it. They walked away with a 46-36 victory over the Knights on Wednesday. The victory was some much needed relief for Apopka as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
Apopka was led to victory by Aina Valenzuela and Mazaiah Marc. Valenzuela scored nine points along with three steals and two blocks, while Marc dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Marc has scored at least a third of Apopka's points.
Apopka's win bumped their record up to 9-14. As for East Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-9.
Apopka is on the road again on Friday and plays Ocoee at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Ocoee's defense has only allowed 28.7 points per game this season, so Apopka's offense will have their work cut out for them. East Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
