Wabash extended their winning streak to six on Friday, bumping them up to 15-1. Everything went their way against the Madison-Grant Argylls as they made off with a 15-2 win. Considering the Apaches have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Haiden McWhirt made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since April 2nd.
In other batting news, Derek Reed was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Samuel Harris, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Wabash always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .591. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison-Grant only posted an OBP of .130.
As for Madison-Grant, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss they have suffered against Wabash since April 20, 2018.
On Madison-Grant's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Martin, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Wabash wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 5-2 defeat against Manchester on the 28th. As for Madison-Grant, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-4 loss against Oak Hill on the 28th.
