Calvary Christian Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 13th straight defeat. They fell just short of Concord Christian Academy by a score of 37-34. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Calvary Christian Academy of the 55-41 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Despite the loss, Calvary Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: Kyle Parks scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Parks also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of JR Gillespie (HS), who scored seven points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Concord Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriel Franco out in front who scored 17 points along with two blocks. Another player making a difference was Keavon Bailey - Homeschool, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds.
Calvary Christian Academy dropped their record down to 1-17 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Concord Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-3.
Calvary Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Holly Grove Christian at 6:30 p.m. on February 9th. Calvary Christian Academy is facing Holly Grove Christian at the right time seeing as Holly Grove Christian is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. Concord Christian Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Chestertown Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on February 13th.
