This season hasn't been kind to the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They took a 37-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Holyoke. Haxtun was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Holyoke apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Despite the loss, Haxtun had strong showings from Bobbi Starkebaum, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, and Jayleigh Bullard, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Starkebaum set a new season high mark in steals with four.
Holyoke's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Courtlyn Kinnie, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Kinnie also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Audrey Talavera, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Haxtun's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Holyoke, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Haxtun won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Prairie at 9:00 a.m. on December 16th. Prairie presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Haxtun in Colorado (Prairie is ranked 88th, while Haxtun is ranked 278th). Holyoke won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Dayspring Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on December 16th.
