The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Wakefield 56-34. The result was nothing new for Lutheran-Northeast, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Lutheran-Northeast's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braden Feddern, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. Those five rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Josh Rojas, who scored 12 points.
Wakefield's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jacob Borg, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Anthony Valenzuela who scored nine points. Borg continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Wakefield struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Lutheran-Northeast's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 18.4 points. As for Wakefield, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-5 record last season and are now at 3-5.
Lutheran-Northeast and Hartington-Newcastle will round out the year against one another at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday at. Hopefully Hartington-Newcastle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Tuesday. Wakefield's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wisner-Pilger at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Wisner-Pilger comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
