The Lake Washington Kangaroos will head out to take on the Skyline Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Washington's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Skyline's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Last Friday, Lake Washington didn't have quite enough to beat Woodinville and fell 3-2.
Lake Washington got a good showing from Shane Johnson, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. That's the fewest hits Johnson has allowed since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, Lake Washington saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aidan Mehlberg, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Skyline not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 13th. Everything went their way against Issaquah as they made off with a 9-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.
Otis Fontonelle was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Fontonelle was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. He has been hot recently, having also posted three or more RBI the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Bartholomae, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaxon Barlament, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Skyline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Lake Washington dropped their record down to 6-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Skyline, their record is now 6-4.
Everything went Lake Washington's way against Skyline in their previous meeting back in March, as Lake Washington made off with an 8-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Kangaroos since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
