Softball Recap: Monarch Wins Going Away Against Plantation

Monarch won the last time they faced Plantation and things went their way on Friday too. The Knights blew past the Colonels 20-3. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won four matchups by 17 runs or more so far this season.

Mia Macaione made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Macaione was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Mylie Carlson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Phipps, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-1.

Monarch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .800. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Monarch and bumps their season record up to 6-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.0 runs over those games. As for Plantation, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.

Monarch will head out to face off against St. Thomas Aquinas at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Plantation, they will square off against Hollywood Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
