Hialeah-Miami Lakes blew past Carol City 16-1 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Chiefs: they've now won three in a row.
Marya Hicks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hicks was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Cyeanna Delva was incredible, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Miely Nieto, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hialeah Gardens made easy work of Dr. Krop on Tuesday and carried off a 20-1 win.
Like Hialeah-Miami Lakes, Hialeah Gardens also got a great game from a two-way player: Jasmine Uz. She struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave Uz a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Hialeah Gardens got a massive performance out of Janelle Adams, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Emily Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.
The victory got Hialeah Gardens back to even at 1-1. As for Hialeah-Miami Lakes, their record now sits at 2-0.
