The Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They fell 37-27 to South Haven. While losing is never fun, Cedar Vale/Dexter can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 286th, while South Haven is ranked 109th).
Despite the defeat, Cedar Vale/Dexter saw an underclassman step up: Zoe Davidson scored eight points along with 12 rebounds. Davidson is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Webb, who scored nine points.
Cedar Vale/Dexter has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season. As for South Haven, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 18-2-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cedar Vale/Dexter will take on Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cedar Vale/Dexter is coming into the matchup with five straight defeats at home, meaning Central will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for South Haven, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Sedan at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. South Haven's defense has only allowed 29.8 points per game this season, so Sedan's offense will have their work cut out for them.
