Even though the Virginia Episcopal School Bishops scored an imposing 56 points on Thursday, the North Cross Raiders still came out on top. North Cross managed a 60-56 victory over Virginia Episcopal School. That's another feather in the cap for North Cross, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
North Cross' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaziel Hart, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hart scored 15 or more points. Antonio Mack was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.
Virginia Episcopal School lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Billy Koudelka, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Koudelka hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Gordon Wyatt, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Virginia Episcopal School were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Cross only racked up six assists.
North Cross' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Virginia Episcopal School, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-4.
North Cross will head out on the road to face off against Carlisle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Carlisle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday. As for Virginia Episcopal School, they will play host again and welcome Benedictine, where tip off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Benedictine is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
