Basketball Recap: Homestead Comes Up Short

Homestead lost against TERRA Environmental back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Homestead Broncos were dealt an 83-50 loss at the hands of TERRA Environmental. The Broncos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Homestead lost, don't look at Rodney Holmes. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds. Holmes is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Charles Edwards was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 rebounds.

TERRA Environmental had a senior duo take command as Mateo Baron went 13 of 19 on his way to 32 points and Nicholas Merlo dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Baron a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Cabello, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Homestead now has a losing record at 2-3. As for TERRA Environmental, they pushed their record up to 1-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Homestead didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-41 victory against South Dade on the 5th. As for TERRA Environmental, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 76-63 defeat against Coral Reef on the 5th.
