The Northern Patriots entered their tilt with the Calvert Cavaliers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Northern enjoyed a cozy 67-51 victory over Calvert on Wednesday. Given Northern's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Calvert is ranked 258th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Emmanuel Powell, who scored 25 points along with four steals. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Ellis, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Northern is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. As for Calvert, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Great Mills the next time they take the court. Northern will host Great Mills at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Calvert will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
