The Nikiski Bulldogs lost against the Seward Seahawks back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Nikiski took a 47-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Seward.
Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexa Iyatunguk, who scored eight points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Iyatunguk has scored all season. Avery Ellis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Nikiski's loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-2. As for Seward, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Nikiski will be playing at home against Metlakatla at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. Seward won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Homer at 3:00 p.m. on January 6th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Alaska (Homer is ranked 17th, while Seward is ranked 15th).
