The Cherry Hill West Lions will head out to square off against the Audubon Green Wave at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Cherry Hill West has struggled recently with three defeats in a row, while Audubon will arrive with three straight victories.
Things were looking good for Cherry Hill West after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Shawnee by a score of 3-2.
Cherry Hill West saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Laylah Gomez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Audubon made easy work of West Deptford on Wednesday and carried off an 11-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Green Wave, who have now won ten games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Kylie Cannaday made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since April 2nd. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Speyerer, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Keira Baumann was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Audubon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Deptford only posted an OBP of .185.
Cherry Hill West's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Audubon, their record is now 11-6.
Cherry Hill West suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Audubon in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
