It's playoff time, and Eastside had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the J.I. Burton Black Raiders with a sharp 12-1 win on Thursday. Considering the Spartans have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Emma Sartin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two hits in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Dakota Clay was excellent, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Rylie Bower, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
The victory was the 12th in a row for Eastside, bringing their record up to 24-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for J.I. Burton, they moved to 10-8 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
As of now, neither Eastside nor the Black Raiders have any future games scheduled.
