The Southern Bulldogs will stay at home for another game and welcome the Broadneck Bruins at 5:00 p.m. on February 9th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Wednesday, everything came up roses for Southern at home against Arundel as the squad secured a 66-17 win. While fans of Southern might be used to big wins, the 49-point margin marked the team's biggest victory yet this season.
Ava Wooster was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with six rebounds and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Huntyr Marks was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Broadneck over North County in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Broadneck blew North County out of the water with a 64-13 final score. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Broadneck has managed all season.
Southern pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.2 points per game. As for Broadneck, their victory bumped their record up to 15-2.
Southern came up short against Broadneck when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 42-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Broadneck's Mackenzie Wharton, who scored 18 points along with two blocks. Now that Southern knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
