Baseball Recap: Franklin County Has No Trouble Against Munroe

Franklin County won the last time they faced Munroe and things went their way on Friday too. The Seahawks were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Bobcats. The result was nothing new for the Seahawks, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Brennan Cook spent all four innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Chason Martina was a standout: he scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Nolan Alford, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Franklin County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Munroe only posted an OBP of .300.

Franklin County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Munroe, they dropped their record down to 4-16 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home.

Looking ahead, Franklin County will welcome Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.33 runs per game on average), something the Seahawks will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Munroe, they will head out to square off against FAMU DRS at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Baby Rattlers have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
