Van is on a seven-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), the Golden Knights a four-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Van Bulldogs will take on the Mount View Golden Knights at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Van pushed their score all the way to 66 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They suffered a tough 86-66 defeat at the hands of River View. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Van in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now lost seven in a row.
Meanwhile, Mount View managed to keep up with the Warriors until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Mount View's tough 55-32 defeat to the Warriors might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Mount View can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Warriors are ranked 34th).
Despite their defeat, Mount View saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Zymir Martin, who scored 14 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 43.8% of Mount View's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Matthias Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Van's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Mount View, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
Van was dealt a bruising 48-21 defeat at the hands of the Golden Knights when the teams last played back in January. Will Van have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
