The J.F. Webb Warriors had to endure a 12-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Durham School of the Arts by a score of 70-61 on Friday. The victory was just what J.F. Webb needed coming off of a 66-46 loss in their prior match.
Leading J.F. Webb to victory were Joshua Barnette and Micah Allen. Barnette dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Allen scored 16 points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Daniel Wright, who scored ten points along with four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Durham School of the Arts lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jadin Haynes. Despite the final result, he shot 4-for-9 from deep and dropped a double-double on 31 points and 12 rebounds. Haynes hasn't dropped below two blocks for three straight games. Darryn Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
J.F. Webb's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-14. As for Durham School of the Arts, they dropped their record down to 6-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. J.F. Webb's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Louisburg at 7:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Louisburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. As for Durham School of the Arts, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Granville Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Granville Central knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Durham School of the Arts likes a good challenge.
