The Mater Dei Catholic Crusaders's game on Thursday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They had just enough and edged Mountain View out 73-70. The victory was all the more spectacular given Mater Dei Catholic's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 195th in California, while Mountain View is ranked 22nd in Idaho).
Leading Mater Dei Catholic to victory were Lincoln Grogan and Maseyo Elliott. Grogan scored 24 points along with five rebounds, while Elliott scored 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Elliott scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Wiles, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Mater Dei Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. As for Mountain View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Mater Dei Catholic will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on December 30th. Mountain View won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Lincoln on December 30th. Lincoln has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 257 points over their last four matches.
