The South Bend Career Academy Trailblazers had to endure an eight-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 48-45 win over Lakeland Christian Academy on Friday. The win was just what South Bend Career Academy needed coming off of a 85-51 loss in their prior matchup.
Quincy Bradshaw went supernova for South Bend Career Academy, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Bradshaw also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Davion Mitchell, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Lakeland Christian Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Micah Martin and Josiah Rice. Martin scored 25 points, while Rice scored 17 points. That was a full 55.6% of Lakeland Christian Academy's points, marking the 18th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
South Bend Career Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-14. As for Lakeland Christian Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-15.
South Bend Career Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on February 13th. Hopefully South Bend Career Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Friday. As for Lakeland Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Granger Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Indiana (Granger Christian is ranked 437th, while Lakeland Christian Academy is ranked 449th).
