The Model Secondary School for the Deaf Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Mercersburg Academy Blue Storm at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Mercersburg Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Model Secondary School for the Deaf, who comes in off a win.
Model Secondary School for the Deaf is ranked highly in their home state, and on Friday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Delaware County Christian. Everything went Model Secondary School for the Deaf's way against Delaware County Christian as Model Secondary School for the Deaf made off with a 34-12 victory. The result was nothing new for Model Secondary School for the Deaf, who have now won four games by 22 points or more so far this season.
Jeramiah Whitehead had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 162 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Florio, who gained 91 total yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Delaware County Christian to a paltry 187 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Model Secondary School for the Deaf's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out eight times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Mercersburg Academy, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 38-22 loss to Maryland School for the Deaf on Saturday. Mercersburg Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Model Secondary School for the Deaf's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Mercersburg Academy, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Model Secondary School for the Deaf came up short against Mercersburg Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, falling 36-24. Can Model Secondary School for the Deaf avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
