Pine Grove has gone a perfect 10-0 against Falkner recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will head out to face off against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Pine Grove has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with six straight losses, while Falkner will come in with five straight wins.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Pine Grove and East Union have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Panthers came up short against the Urchins, falling 9-2.
Ayden Jones was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Jones was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.
Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Tidwell, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Falkner was able to grind out a solid victory over Middleton on Thursday, taking the game 9-4.
Graydon Newby and Asa Childs did most of the damage at the plate: Newby got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base, while Childs got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Childs is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Colee Stroupe, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Pine Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Falkner, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 7-2.
Pine Grove came out on top in a nail-biter against Falkner in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, sneaking past 10-9. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
