Baseball Recap: Basalt Wins Going Away Against Olathe

Basalt won the last time they faced Olathe and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Basalt Longhorns put the hurt on the Olathe Pirates with a sharp 10-3 victory. The Longhorns not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 30, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Kody Barton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Parker Sims, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Basalt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Olathe only posted an OBP of .467.

Basalt now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Olathe, they dropped their record down to 2-1 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Basalt will host Moffat County at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be Basalt's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Olathe, they are taking a road trip to face off against Center at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
