The Northern Garrett Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the Mountain Ridge Miners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain Ridge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Northern Garrett, who comes in off a win.
Northern Garrett is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Uniontown on Friday. The Huskies really took it to the Red Raiders for the full four quarters, racking up a 38-0 win. The Huskies pushed the score to 21-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Red Raiders had little chance of recovering from.

Northern Garrett can attribute much of their success to Landon Yoder, who rushed for 132 yards and one TD on only eight carries, and Evan Graham, who rushed for 67 yards and one score. Those 132 rushing yards gave Yoder a new career-high.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Northern Garrett's defense and their four sacks. Leading the way was Ansen Miller with two. He also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with six.
Meanwhile, Mountain Ridge fell victim to Fort Hill and their airtight defense on Friday. They were beaten by the Sentinels 62-0. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland football rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Sentinels are ranked 23rd).
Northern Garrett has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 3-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.3 points on average over those games. As for Mountain Ridge, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Northern Garrett has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 249.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Mountain Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 88.3 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Northern Garrett was able to grind out a solid win over Mountain Ridge when the teams last played back in November of 2024, winning 23-13. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Miners turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
