Newnan had won ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 10-3 to make it 11. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Villa Rica Wildcats. While the Cougars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 16-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Newnan found their leader in freshman Mia West, who had six aces and five digs. West is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played.
Newnan was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Villa Rica only served three aces.
As for Villa Rica, their loss dropped their record down to 9-1. The contest marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.
Lillieanne Price and Jamey Hennelly certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Price had 15 digs and one assist, while Hennelly had six digs and two assists.
Looking ahead, Newnan will face off against Chapel Hill on Thursday. As for Villa Rica, they will head out to square off against Temple at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
