Santa Rosa Academy extended their winning streak to eight on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 13-5 in the process. They were the clear victors by a 20-9 margin over the Temecula Prep Patriots. Considering the Rangers have won nine matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Kadence Bernard made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aleeza Dunn was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last eight times she's played. Sarai Perez also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Santa Rosa Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March.
As for Temecula Prep, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games.
On Temecula Prep's side, Kori Dawson and Samiyah Antoine stepped up to the plate in a big way. Dawson went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Antoine went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylie Parrino, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Coincidentally, Santa Rosa Academy and Temecula Prep will both be playing Hamilton the next time they take the field. The Patriots will host the Bobcats at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Rangers will head out to face them at 3:30 p.m. on May 2.
