The Eaglecrest Raptors will head out on the road to square off against the Cherokee Trail Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Eaglecrest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Cherokee Trail is ranked first).
While Eaglecrest's win against Overland wasn't quite the blowout they won the last time the pair played, they still came away the winners. Eaglecrest came out on top in a nail-biter against Overland on Friday and snuck past 44-41. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Eaglecrest.
Eaglecrest's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Danivea Hughes led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hughes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyann Farbes, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Cherokee Trail came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. Damara Allen continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with three steals. Aaliyah Broadus was another key contributor, scoring five points along with five steals.
