Sunlake is a perfect 7-0 against Fivay since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Sunlake Seahawks will be playing at home against the Fivay Falcons at 7:00 p.m. Sunlake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Sunlake is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Dunedin just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 5-4. The loss was the Seahawks' first of the season.
Sunlake got a good showing from Sydney Walker, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Walker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lexi Romero was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. Abigail Avant was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Fivay owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Central, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since April 16, 2024.
Central's batters probably weren't too happy with Danna Sleeman, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up two walks). With that strong performance, Sleeman is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Abby Wojcik was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Janie Badu, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Fivay's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Sunlake, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.
Fivay's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sunlake hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. It's a different story for Fivay, though, as they've only averaged .252. Will they be able to contain Sunlake's hitters?
Everything went Sunlake's way against Fivay in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Sunlake made off with an 18-1 victory. Does Sunlake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fivay turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
