Reagan can attribute much of their success to Santiago Mejia, who had ten digs and four aces. That's the most digs Mejia has posted over his last ten contests.
Mejia wasn't the only good server: Reagan was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 16 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Columbus faced True North Classical Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Explorers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Titans.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 25-16.
Reagan better keep an eye on Matthew Fernandez. He was instrumental in Columbus' win, getting 13 digs and one assist.
Columbus' win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Reagan, their record now sits at 13-1.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Wednesday's game: Reagan has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 7.6 aces per game. However, it's not like Columbus struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Reagan came out on top in a nail-biter against Columbus when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 2-1. Do the Bison have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Explorers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
