The Atlantic City Vikings lost against the Middle Township Panthers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Atlantic City fell 46-38 to the Panthers. While losing is never fun, Atlantic City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 163rd, while the Panthers are ranked 35th).
Atlantic City lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Taison Parker, who scored ten points along with two steals. Julia Marigliano was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Middle Township was led to victory by Abbey Cappelletti and Mckenzie Palek. Cappelletti scored 11 points, while Palek scored 13 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cappelletti has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Sarah Farrow, who scored six points.
Atlantic City dropped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Middle Township, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Atlantic City will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st. Mainland Regional is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Middle Township, they will head out on the road to face off against the Braves at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
