The Godwin Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the James River Midlothian Rapids at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Godwin will come into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.
Godwin's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Deep Run with a sharp 8-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won six games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Katelyn Hubley made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Ross, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Gabrielle Coleman also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Godwin lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for James River Midlothian, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 15-6 margin over Thomas Dale on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Rapids considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Like Godwin, James River Midlothian also got a great game from a two-way player: Savannah Overton. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off seven hits. Overton was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hailey Metacarpa was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Taylor Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Godwin's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for James River Midlothian, they moved to 2-7 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.
James River Midlothian's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Godwin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for James River Midlothian, though, as they've been averaging only 2 strikeouts. Will Godwin keep running through batters, or will the Rapids buck the trend?
Everything went Godwin's way against James River Midlothian when the teams last played back in April of 2022, as Godwin made off with a 16-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
