After losing to Academy of Our Lady of Peace the last time they met, Mission Bay decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Buccaneers walked away with a 20-13 victory over the Pilots on Tuesday.
Mission Bay got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Valerie Young out in front who picked up 85 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 32 yards and one touchdown. Young didn't just play on offense: she also made seven total tackles and defended one pass. Mia Siqueiros was another key player, rushing for 93 yards on only ten carries.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mission Bay's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Kiyoka Burke. Another thorn in Academy of Our Lady of Peace's side was Jackie Quinchon, who made seven total tackles and defended three passes in addition to snagging an interception.
Mission Bay's victory bumped their record up to 13-10-1. As for Academy of Our Lady of Peace, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
