Arlington came tearing into Friday's contest with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They rang in the new year with a 56-44 victory over the Concordia Mustangs. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Mustangs are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Concordia's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charis Hughes, who went 5 of 8 en route to 14 points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Emersyn Spurgeon, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Arlington's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1. As for Concordia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Arlington wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-50 victory against Wisner-Pilger on the 4th. As for Concordia, they will challenge Yutan at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
