The St. Joseph Academy Flashes came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Gateway Charter by a score of 42-31.
St. Joseph Academy had a senior duo take command as Kelly Cramer scored 19 points along with three steals and Zariyah Turner scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Cramer has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played.
Gateway Charter lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jazmyne Trubina, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Yaneila Roman, who scored ten points.
St. Joseph Academy has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Gateway Charter, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-6.
St. Joseph Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Merritt Island Christian at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th. Merritt Island Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.6 points per game. As for Gateway Charter, Gateway Charter and Altamonte Christian will face off at 12:00 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
