Basketball Recap: Randolph-Clay Piles Up the Points Against Pataula Charter Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Randolph-Clay). They blew past the Pataula Charter Academy Panthers 63-18 on Tuesday. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while the Panthers are ranked 471st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Randolph-Clay to victory were Zyiah Johnson and Ta'Kyrah Jones. Johnson dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Jones posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Johnson is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Akia Seymore, who earned eight points and three steals.

Pataula Charter Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kelsie Tillman, who had seven points.

Randolph-Clay's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Pataula Charter Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Randolph-Clay will welcome Schley County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pataula Charter Academy, they will head out to square off against Stewart County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Pataula Charter Academy is facing Stewart County at the right time seeing as Stewart County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
