Central Noble is a perfect 9-0 against Garrett since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cougars will challenge the Railroaders at 5:30 p.m. Central Noble is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Central Noble came out on top against Fairfield on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run second inning. The Cougars took their game against the Falcons 10-7. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cougars considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Grace Swank was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.
In other batting news, Central Noble got a big performance out of Kaitlyn Tilley, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and one double. That's the most runs Tilley has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Avery Deter, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Central Noble kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Garrett was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakeland on Thursday, taking the game 4-1.
Ashlee Vanderbosch spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up eight Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sarah DePew, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
Central Noble has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Garrett, their record is now 13-3.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central Noble hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .357. However, it's not like Garrett struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central Noble took their victory against Garrett when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
