Baseball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Arrowhead's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Arrowhead ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Menomonee Falls Phoenix, sneaking past 6-5. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Warhawks also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.

Finley Birkenstock tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Mason Chirafisi and Ollie Corry did most of the damage at the plate: Chirafisi got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Corry went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Chirafisi a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grady Loper, who went 1-for-5 with two RBI and one run.

Arrowhead kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive games.

Arrowhead has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Menomonee Falls, the defeat snapped their winning streak at ten games and leaves them with a 12-5 record.

Arrowhead and Menomonee Falls should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Warhawks will take on Muskego at 5:15 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (11 vs. 63). Meanwhile, Menomonee Falls (ranked 32nd) will meet Marquette University (ranked 86th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
