The Winnfield Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Pineville Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Winnfield has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 302 points over their last five matches.
Last Tuesday, Winnfield earned a 56-45 victory over St. Mary.
Winnfield can attribute much of their success to Jaylon Jackson, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds, and Decavian Duncan, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The match was Duncan's eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Damascus Lewis, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and six blocks.
Meanwhile, Pineville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They blew past Sterlington 86-45 on the road. Pineville's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Winnfield now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Pineville, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Winnfield strolled past Pineville when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a score of 60-45. Will Winnfield repeat their success, or does Pineville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
