Lipscomb Academy has gone 8-2 against Pope John Paul II recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Mustangs will challenge the Knights at 4:30 p.m. Lipscomb Academy is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
On Thursday, Lipscomb Academy sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over Rockvale.
Meanwhile, Pope John Paul II got themselves on the board against Northeast on Wednesday, but Northeast never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 14-0 win. Considering the Knights have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Clara Grace Wingo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Wingo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Laney Jackson and Carmen Shick did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while Shick got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Jackson has posted since back in March. Mia Calisi was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Pope John Paul II has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Lipscomb Academy, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5.
Lipscomb Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Pope John Paul II in their previous matchup back in March, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
