Basketball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Mechanicville's Winning Streak

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Mechanicville can now relate to. They lost 79-55 to the Marcellus Mustangs on Saturday. The Red Raiders' defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.

Marcellus got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Dom Gosh-Sandy out in front who went 8-for-9 on his way to 19 points and seven rebounds. The contest was Gosh-Sandy's third in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Burnett, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards.

Mechanicville's loss dropped their record down to 20-6. As for Marcellus, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Mechanicville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Marcellus, they will face off against World of Inquiry at 11:45 a.m. on March 22nd. World of Inquiry knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 matchups -- so hopefully Marcellus likes a good challenge.
