The Newman Greenies scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lutcher 88-40 on the road. The team's offensive explosion also rewarded Newman with their most commanding win of the season.
Newman's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Todd Jones led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games he's played. Christopher Cenac was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Newman has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season. As for Lutcher, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-15.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newman won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Patterson at 7:00 p.m. on February 7th. Newman is coming into the match with 12 straight wins at home, meaning Patterson will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. Lutcher will take on Assumption at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
