The Horse Creek Academy Stallions will head out to square off against the Silver Bluff Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
Horse Creek Academy gave up the first runs last Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Wagener-Salley by a score of 7-3.
Adrien Beak made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Beak was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Allie Stuart was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Scarlett Hayes was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Silver Bluff). They put the hurt on Keenan with a sharp 18-1 win on Tuesday. Considering the Bulldogs have won three contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Horse Creek Academy, Silver Bluff also got a great game from a two-way player: Ryley Bowman. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). That's the fewest hits Bowman has allowed since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Haeley Bowman, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Quinn Hornung, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Silver Bluff always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .957. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Silver Bluff's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Horse Creek Academy, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
Horse Creek Academy suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Silver Bluff in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Horse Creek Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
