The Lutheran-Northeast Eagles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 59-50 victory over Fullerton. The win was some much needed relief for Lutheran-Northeast as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Kealy Ranslem went supernova for Lutheran-Northeast, scoring 28 points. That's the first time this season that Ranslem scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kendra Petersen, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Fullerton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaci Maxfield. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Maxfield is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Isabel Norman was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Lutheran-Northeast's win ended a eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-14. As for Fullerton, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Lutheran-Northeast will take on St. Francis at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Francis will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Fullerton, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pleasanton at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Hopefully Pleasanton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Monday.
