Mesa Ridge fell 52-42 to The Classical Academy on Monday. Mesa Ridge has struggled against The Classical Academy recently, as their matchup on Monday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Mesa Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bray Pelt. Despite the final result, she scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Aeriana Nelson was another key contributor, scoring five points along with two steals and two blocks.
Alaina Bonacquista continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for The Classical Academy, scoring 20 points along with six assists and five steals. Bonacquista has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellery Grebenik, who scored 11 points.
Mesa Ridge has fallen quite a ways from their 16-8 record last season and are now at 5-9. As for The Classical Academy, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4.
Mesa Ridge will take on Canon City at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Classical Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mitchell at 5:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Mitchell comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
