The Richland Rangers will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Wingfield Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Richland is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
After soaring to 63 points the game before, Richland were a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Lanier, falling 64-18. Richland has not had much luck with the Bulldogs recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Meanwhile, Wingfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. Their tough 70-48 defeat to McComb might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Wingfield can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Tigers are ranked 93rd).
Despite the loss, Wingfield got a solid performance out of Tyler Arrington, who scored 18 points. Arrington is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 18 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kentrell Jordan, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Richland has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-17 record this season. As for Wingfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-21.
Richland skirted past the Falcons 63-60 when the teams last played last Friday. Will Richland repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
