The Elkmont Red Devils lost against the Midfield Patriots back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Elkmont took a 54-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Midfield. While losing is never fun, Elkmont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Midfield is ranked 96th).
Midfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clarence Woods, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jashawn Moore, who scored 2 points along with 15 rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Elkmont and nudges their season record down to 2-5. As for Midfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Elkmont will be playing at home against Lauderdale County at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Midfield, they will head out on the road to face off against Wenonah at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
