After flying high against the Choudrant Aggies last Monday, the Gibsland-Coleman Bulldogs came back down to earth. Gibsland-Coleman was beaten by Huntington 89-33 on Friday. Gibsland-Coleman has struggled against Huntington recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Gibsland-Coleman still got an impressive performance from Baleigh Haulcy, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Haulcy hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games. Samora Sampson was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Huntington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kyndal Graham led the charge by scoring 27 points along with five steals. Graham continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carley Hamilton, who scored 23 points along with four steals.
Gibsland-Coleman has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Huntington, they pushed their record up to 19-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Gibsland-Coleman and Summerfield will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Louisiana (Summerfield is ranked 94th, while Gibsland-Coleman is ranked 119th). Huntington will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Woodlawn-Shreveport at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
