Mater Academy Charter's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Yakeisha Shillingford, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 steals. What's more, Shillingford also racked up six assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Halle Jordan, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Coral Park came tearing into last Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 43-40 victory over the Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since November 29, 2023.
Mater Academy Charter better focus on containing Greisy Perdomo and Layla Heaven as the pair were huge in Coral Park's win. Perdomo dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals, while Heaven dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Perdomo has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played.
Coral Park smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.
