The Brewer Bears are taking a road trip to face off against the Fossil Ridge Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brewer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Brewer will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Chisholm Trail on Tuesday. The Bears were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Rangers. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Rangers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Khloe Winn looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Samantha Aguirre was a standout: she fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-2. What's more, she posted two runs, the most she's had since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Cozette Tyson, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3.
Brewer was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .722. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against the Hornets. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 11, 2024.
Sarah Chrisman was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-6. Another player making a difference was Kendolyn Lockhart, who went 3-for-8 with one double and one RBI.
Fossil Ridge pushed their record up to 13-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Brewer, their record is now 13-11.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brewer hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Fossil Ridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brewer came up short against Fossil Ridge when the teams last played back in March, falling 10-5. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
